Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTANISLAW FALKOWSKI It is with deep sadness but wonderful memories that we announce the peaceful passing of Stanislaw Falkowski on January 1, 2009 at the age of 87 at St. Joseph's Residence. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lidia; his daughter Monika (Stephen); grandsons Adam, Mark, Peter, Anton; sons Brian (Dawn), Victor (Glenda); granddaughter Kara, and Henry (Helen). He is also survived by one sister Krystyna, and numerous nieces and nephews in Poland. He was predeceased by his parents and five siblings. Stan was born on May 8, 1921 in Krojczyn, Lipno, Poland. He grew up on the family farm and with the onset of the Second World War, Stan was forced to leave his beloved homeland and immigrate to Germany with his future wife, Lidia, and her family. Lidia and Stan were married in Fallingbostel, Germany on June 29, 1947. Stan immigrated to Canada in 1950 and settled in Winnipeg, where he worked hard to provide a good life for his young family. Stan was a jack of all trades , and was always fixing, adapting, and re-inventing. He worked in many different areas: at the railroads, construction companies, custom housing, as well as helping his children with whatever they needed. He never truly retired. Stan was a very strong, determined, honorable and loving husband, father and grandfather. He had a gentle, kind manner about him and was an incredibly giving person who had a deep love for life, family and friends. He was a proud Canadian while remaining a fiercely patriotic Pole. He taught us generosity of spirit, acceptance, patience, understanding, and Pop' will be forever remembered as a man of wisdom. Stan's deep devotion to his faith, and daily rosary and prayer guided him through life. The family gratefully acknowledges the patience, kindness and support of the Unit 2 staff and Dr. Babick at St. Joseph's Residence. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church at 341 Selkirk Avenue on Tuesday, January 6 at 10:00 a.m., with visitation before the service at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Stan's memory to St. Joseph's Residence, 1149 Leila Ave., Winnipeg, MB. 586-8044
